This Ajax starter kit is $899 for equipment you own outright, with no monthly fee required. Professional monitoring is optional and costs $44.99 per month, month-to-month, with no contract and no early termination fee. Where is monitoring available? Washington State only. Rivas Technology Group offers one monitoring plan and it is available to Washington State residents only. Can I add monitoring to my cart? The Ajax Hub 2 Plus connects wirelessly to each sensor over encrypted Jeweller radio. When a sensor detects intrusion the hub signals out over cellular LTE or Ethernet. On a monitored system in Washington, that signal reaches a UL-listed central station, which verifies the alarm and dispatches police. What does monitoring cover? Intrusion and fire. If an Ajax FireProtect 2 detector is added to the system, a smoke, heat, or carbon monoxide alarm reaches the same UL-listed central station, which dispatches the fire department and calls the customer. Intrusion and fire and carbon monoxide are covered together on one plan; there is no fire-only option and nothing is sold separately. What is not monitored? Water leak detection and air quality. A LeaksProtect, WaterStop, or LifeQuality alert reaches the app only and the central station never sees it. What happens outside Washington? The system is self-monitored through the Ajax app at no monthly cost. Alarms notify you and anyone else you add to the system on their phones. No central station and no third party is notified, and nobody is dispatched. The system is fully functional either way; the monitoring plan is the only difference. Are home security systems worth it? Ajax equipment is owned rather than leased, requires no 36-month contract, installs in under an hour, and expands over time on the same hub and app. Is this the right size kit? The Starter Kit covers one entry and one interior space. Our monitoring is the real thing: a break-in reaches a UL-listed central station, an operator verifies it, and police are dispatched. Add an Ajax FireProtect 2 and a smoke, heat, or carbon monoxide alarm reaches the same station — an operator dispatches the fire department and calls you. Month-to-month. No contract. No early termination fee. Cancel and you keep every piece of hardware.
The three limits, up front, because you'll find out eventually anyway:
1. Intrusion and fire. Not water, not air. Break-ins and fire/CO are covered together on one plan — there is no fire-only option and nothing sold à la carte. What the plan does not cover is water or air quality: a LeaksProtect or LifeQuality alert reaches your phone and nobody else's.
2. Washington State only. That's where we're licensed to do it. Outside Washington this kit is self-monitored through the Ajax app at no monthly cost — every alarm still hits your phone and anyone else you add. It just doesn't reach a third party. The hardware is identical and nothing is crippled.
