Price $449. Available in black or white. What is a dome camera? A dome camera sits in a low, rounded housing close to the ceiling or soffit. It is harder to grab, harder to knock out of aim, and less visually intrusive than a bullet camera on an arm. How far does its night light reach? Up to 49 feet, from both the infrared and white LEDs. This is much shorter than the Ajax BulletCam HL and TurretCam HL, which reach 164 feet. If you need to light a long driveway or a large yard in full darkness, the BulletCam or TurretCam is the correct choice and this camera is not. How far can it identify someone? Ajax publishes DORI figures: detection at 295 feet, observation at 118 feet, recognition at 59 feet, and identification at 29 feet. Those figures assume adequate light. In full darkness the practical limit is the 49 foot illumination range. Does it record on its own? Only with storage. The camera takes a microSD card up to 256GB rated Class V30 or faster, not included, or it records to an Ajax NVR. Without either you can watch live video but nothing is saved. Is it weatherproof? The Honest Numbers
Do Not Put This On A Driveway
Its light reaches 49 feet. The BulletCam and TurretCam reach 164. Same sensor, same lens, same 4K — a third of the throw. In daylight that costs you nothing. At 2am on an unlit driveway it is the whole ballgame.
So: this is a camera for lobbies, entries, corridors, and anywhere with light in it. If you are covering a long dark approach, buy the BulletCam HL or the TurretCam HL instead — same price, four times the reach. We would rather tell you now than read it in a return request.

Give It Somewhere To Put The Footage
Out of the box this camera records nothing. True of every serious camera, and better said now than discovered later. Two options, and you can run both:
A microSD card — up to 256GB, Class V30 or faster, not included. Simple and cheap. The catch: whoever takes the camera takes the card. Harder here than most, admittedly — there is nothing to grab.
An Ajax NVR from $749 — footage on a drive indoors, continuous recording, no subscription, one archive across every camera. The NVR has no PoE ports, so this camera needs a switch — the Alta Labs S8-POE or bigger.
Putting It Up
One Ethernet run carries power and video on a PoE switch, or 12V DC plus network. Installation template and kit in the box. Mount it at ceiling height indoors, or wall-mount outdoors with the lens facing out and down.
One placement note from Ajax worth repeating: do not aim it at a bright white wall. The surface throws the IR back and blinds the camera at night — a common way a good camera is wasted.
